Senior Convention Service Manager
We are currently hiring a Senior Convention Service Manager to join our team. The Convention Service Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and managing the in-house details for a large group and convention booking (e.g., menus, set-up, etc.) The  Senior CSM works closely with other CSM’s to support them in their day-to-day duties and responsibilities. Ensure maximization of room and meeting space, revenues, and profit while delivering a quality product. Focus on all aspects of event planning including coordination from the signing of the of a group contract, VIP needs, amenities, group resumes.  Assisting in the completion of BEOs for group and local catering. Complete walk-through of function space prior to events beginning and complete checklist for each group; both local and groups. Participate in negotiating meetings/functions rooms, rates, and all related requirements.

Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Area Director of Sales & Marketing:

Serves group and catering customers in a proactive manner

Work with clients to establish logistics of group room blocks, food and beverage, public meeting space, and billing processes.

Increase Banquet revenues by upselling and growing catering sales.

Attend BEO meetings including distribution, GRC/Pickup meetings

Attend trial meal and Wedding events and ensure sufficient execution or the formal hand off to the operations team

Maintain and log all client communications in the system. \Responsible for prompt handling (within the business day) of inquiry calls and confirming function details with the client

Monitor group room blocks and pickup and generate detailed resumes for operating departments.

Forecasting and budgeting Food & Beverage revenues

Execute strategies with the CSMs as outlined by the Area DOSM

Ability to work with outside vendors to ensure client satisfaction for all events/groups.

Follow up and generating thank you notes to clients post event and prompt follow up with negative client feedback.

Work closely with the Sales Managers to ensure client satisfaction.

Resourceful skills to provide contemporary set-ups, menus, and functions for groups.
Ability to produce artistic and innovative menus while working closely with the Executive Chef on pricing specialty menus.
Work closely with the banquet department on operations and event execution, ability to consistently deliver flawless events.
Provide overall direction, coordination, and ongoing evaluation of operations. Detailed execution of all banquet event orders.
What We are Looking for...

2-3 years work experience as a hotel Convention Services Manager in a 3-5 star property is required.
Experience leading team members in hotel enviorment is preferred
University or College diploma in Hospitality is a definite asset;
Strong computer skills, with knowledge of Microsoft Office, and Hotel Property Management System are an asset;
Organized, results-orientated, proven time management skills and ability to work under pressure;
Proven experience motivating and inspiring a team to achieve strong performance results;
Strong problem-solving and creative thinking skills;
Thrives in a fast-paced environment-maintaining composure and objectivity with guests and team members;
Available to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays as required, including occasional Manager-On-Duty shifts;
Class G Driver's License
Travel as required
Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.

Sous Chef
We are currently recruiting for a Sous Chef to take its food and beverage operation to the next level! The Sous Chef is called upon to support the Executive Chef and represent them in their absence. The Sous Chef often is the one responsible for training new staff members and managing the team. They must be able to think on their feet, make sound snap decisions and come up with creative concepts within the restaurants and banquets. They are comfortable taking on any task in the kitchen and are familiar with the operation of all kitchen equipment and assist in leading the daily operations. The Sous Chef will offer culinary expertise as it relates to all areas with the hotel.  The incumbent is responsible for providing coaching to existing team members and ensuring the Hotel’s culinary vision is achieved.  This is a hands on role, working alongside the team members, while also working collaboratively with the Executive Chef to help lead and manage the execution of the Food & Beverage vision for the hotel.  Along with being in tune with current food and beverage trends, the role requires a leader who is passionate, creative and brings strong food and beverage presentation skills and a strong desire to create exceptional dining experiences for all guests.  They are experienced with the preparation of all menu items and are responsible for ensuring production standards are met and checking for food quality, flavour and plating to ensure guest satisfaction. They participate in all aspects of food preparation and ensure menu items are plated and served on time. They ensure quality control by strictly following recipes and production standards.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare individual dishes as well as full-course meals;

Consult daily with the Chef concerning menus, specials, Banquets, special events, and quantities to be produced and served, and reports any big quantities left over;
Monitors production standards and product quality to ensure efficient service and that brand standards are met;
Assist with duties such as ordering, inventory, costing, waste control, training, and ensuring food safety standards are always met;
Ensures that prep levels are met and ready for the next service;
Ensures that fridges are organized, the product is rotated, storerooms are cleaned, and the dish area is organized and takes the lead on the shift in directing that these activities occur;
Perform other duties as assigned.

Area Accounting Clerk
The Accounting Clerk is responsible for performing accounting duties as required for the three propertie in our Thunder Bay Hotel Collection.  This role requires a focused, detail oriented individual.  Key areas of responsibility include accounts receivable, accounts payable, cashier, and payroll functions.  This role works in coordination with the home office accounting and finance department while reporting to the Dual General Manager for Days Inn Thunder Bay.

Key Responsibilities


Manage all property level phases of accounts payable and assist with accounts receivable.
Oversee and lead the payroll process for the Hotel, providing guidance and direction to department leaders to ensure payroll accuracy and timeliness.
Ensure that guests have best possible experience by troubleshooting and resolving all billing-related disputes in a timely manner.
Acknowledged all guest billing inquiries or concerns within 48 hours of receiving the initial complaint.
Prepare regular reports and summaries of accounting activities as required.
Review all ledger details: guest ledger, city ledger and deposit ledgers to validate proper payment and revenue posting, resolve issues as needed.
Ensure all new hire paperwork, benefits and other pertinent personnel documents are uploaded to Payworks and maintained in accordance with the company practices.
Participate in property inventory counts.
Reconcile and complete daily cash deposits.
Provide direction and training to hotel operational team in areas related to accounting processes, internal controls, and payroll, etc.
Adhere to a system of policies and procedures that impose an adequate level of control over Accounting Department activities.
Drive the corporate culture, personifying it in daily interactions with both guests and team members;
Be an engaging leader who is highly inclusive, inspiring and able to relate to all levels;
Create a fun and supportive working environment where team members aspire to do what is right and are given the empowerment to execute
 Environmental Factors

Primarily a weekday schedule, Monday to Friday, with some occasional work required in the evenings and on weekends.
Travel to the different hotel locations as needed and often work from various hotel locations.
Significant time spent on a computer keyboard.
Regular communication with Hotel General Managers and Corporate Finance Managers.
Some lifting (up to 30 lbs), on occasion.
A fast-paced and ever-evolving industry with high demands to perform.
Swift strategic thinking while under pressure to execute project strategies.
What We Are Looking For...

Minimum of two years demonstrated accounting/bookkeeping experience, preferably in hospitality;
Accounting skills and knowledge acquired through business college or enrolment in an accounting program are considered an asset;
Demonstrated ability to interact in a team environment with several divisions/departments
Friendly and cooperative disposition and easily able to work cooperatively with team members;
Strong administrative, organizational and time management skills;
Strong communication skills, written and verbal;
Exceptional analytical skills to prepare reports and to solve routine accounting problems;
Strong Compute r skills - knowledge of SAGE, Maestro, Opera, POS, Delphi and Excel a definite asset.
Available to work holidays as required, based on business needs.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential
Intermediate knowledge of Excel is required.
