Banquet Server

The hotel is currently recruiting for a Banquet Server. The Banquet Server is responsible for setting up events, serving guests, and cleaning up after the event. The set-up function can include place settings, arranging table placement, putting out tablecloths, as well as putting up a buffet.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Banquet Manager and/or Supervisor, the Banquet Server:

  • Helps Banquet Managers in serving guests during banquet functions to ensure positive guest experiences;
  • Sets up the banquet room as indicated on the Banquet Event Order, to include glassware, serving ware, and linens;
  • Attends pre-con meetings before events kick off in order to learn about the function, including hotel and guest expectations;
  • Greets and welcomes guests, responding to their requests in a courteous and friendly manner;
  • Serves the beverage and food in the appropriate order and in tune with the expectation of the Banquet Manager, to ensure consistency throughout the banquet;
  • Quickly and quietly removes dishes as guests finish each course and at the end of each meal or function;
  • Abides by all corporate acts, laws, and requirements pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages and food handling;
  • Replenishes beverages when necessary, and checks with guests regularly to make sure they are satisfied;
  • After the banquet, resets the banquet room in accordance with specifications to ensure the readiness of the room for other functions;
  • Follows attendance and break rules;
  • Performs other related functions that may be assigned.

Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to): 

  • Frequent walking with some standing at times possibly extended distances;
  • Ability to bend and climb stairs when necessary;
  • Frequently lift and/or carry up to 25 lbs;
  • Occasionally lift and/or carry up to 50 lbs;
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms in any direction and kneel and stoop repeatedly.

What We are Looking For...

  • Previous serving experience is preferred;
  • Knowledge of catering practices preferred;
  • Strong customer service and communication skills, and the ability to multi-task;
  • Ability to work quickly and as a team in a fast-paced environment;
  • High level of professionalism and an eye for presentation.
